If you're going for a more elegant sound, you'll want to consider the Gary Gibson Jazz Quartet or Trio! These groups bring you the highest level of musical performance and professionalism available in the Puget Sound region. Gary plays either drums or vibraphone, and the side musicians employed epitomize the high artistic and aesthetic capabilities of the West Coast jazz scene. These groups have the musical experience and maturity to play the great jazz standards with personality and style.
The instrumentation of the quartet can be either vibraphone or saxophone with a rhythm section of piano, bass, and drums. The trio can consist of either vibraphone, piano and bass (no drums), or a standard jazz trio of piano, bass and drums. For special events, a larger group (quintet) featuring all five instruments can be used.
The repertoire of the group is based on that body of great American songs written in the last sixty years or so. ..from Tin Pan alley to Miles Davis. ..the jazz standards (click to see a sample list). These songs are remarkably versatile, and can function as pleasant atmosphere/dinner music, or can get people on their feet dancing.
A drummer since the age of five, and vibraphonist since the age of eight, Gary has worked professionally as a drummer/vibraphonist for 17 years, playing and/or recording with such jazz greats as Bud Shank, and various local jazz and ethnic music groups. Gary has been the drummer/percussionist for many of the shows at Seattle's Fifth Avenue Theater, and is the percussionist in the Seattle Festival Orchestra, which has backed up national acts in local concerts (Ray Charles, Linda Ronstadt, Collin Ray, etc).
Whether you're seeking background music for a restaurant/bar setting or a company party, elegant dance music for a wedding reception, or an all-out swinging concert program, the Gary Gibson Quartet/Trio can accommodate your needs with flair and professionalism.
