The Cords
In 1979 John Walton & Larry Magdaleno met and decided to start a RADICAL band. Larry brought the rock vibe to the band while John leaned toward the New Wave sound. Their first gig was a backyard party in the summer of 1980. By the end of their five year stint the band had changed their name, changed drummers twice and reached local stardom on the backyard party circuit. In 1984 they disbanded and Larry and John went their separate ways.
Fast-forward about 20 years, John, a high school administrator, meets Dave Pitts, a music teacher. They formed a band to play in a school assembly in the spring of 2004, Dave on Bass and John on Rhythm Guitar and Vocals. In August of 2004 Larry called John out of the blue to attend a surprise birthday party for a former band-mate. Reunited, Larry and John discuss the “good old days” and decide to get together and jam again. John recruited his friend Dave to play bass and keys and sing vocals. A few jam sessions turned into a couple of gigs and the rest is history, a band was formed. Three great drummers later, in 2007, Hector Portillo, drummer extraordinaire joins the group.
