Detroit "Motown" native, Melody - aka "The Soul Butterfly," is not only a talented and versatile vocalist, she's also a 2009 Gospel Stellar Award Nominee for New Artist of the Year and the 2008 WAMMIE (Washington Area Music Association) Winner for Best Gospel/Inspirational Recording for her versatile mixed genre debut project. As a multi-talented singer, songwriter, actress, and stage performer, Melody refuses to be locked into a specific box with her music or any of her lifelong undertakings.
She has shared the music stage at such legendary arenas as The Grand Ole Opry with notable artists as, Regina Belle, Dionne Warwick, Sheryl Lee Ralph, The legendary Clark Sisters, Comedian Sinbad, and a host of others. Melody is also no stranger to the acting stage, performing in several noteworthy musical/ theater productions, which included appearances at Washington, DC's historic Lincoln Theater and Maryland's celebrated Publick Playhouse. While showing great musical versatility, style, and charisma - Melody brings to you a fresh sound with a unique vocal blend of Jazz, Soul, and R & B with a touch of Gospel.
Her musical inspirations, which are as varied as her style, range from a wide blend of musical legends and innovators such as, Ella Fitzgerald, Mahalia Jackson, and Billie Holiday. Others who've impacted her as a vocalist include, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, Diana Ross, Stephanie Mills, and Chaka Khan - just to name a few.
