Jim Dever - Announcer - Emcee
Jim Dever is a reporter for "Evening Magazine" and produces the show's popular "DoubleTake" segments. He is also an accomplished concert cellist and foot model.
One of the preceding sentences is not true.
Dever has won 15 Emmy Awards for writing, hosting, reporting and producing, and received a national Iris Award for his work on the weekly local teen program, "Watch This!" which he hosted for five years with Mimi Gan. He is also president of the National Association of Male Contortionists.
Maybe not.
Prior to joining KING 5 in 1991, Jim had a spectacularly unsuccessful career as a senior producer at KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, a producer at the PM Magazine national office in San Francisco, Calif., a nightly host in Johnstown, Pa., a news reporter at WTAJ-TV in Altoona, Pa., and a production assistant at CNN in Atlanta. He began his career as a news photographer in the middle of nowhere.
That's all true. Even, unfortunately, the part about Altoona.
Born in Ohio, Dever grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. No one has ever asked him about his grade-point average, and he's not about to start talking now.
In his spare time, Dever enjoys traveling, reading, astronomy, stunt pogo stick jumping and spending time with his wife, daughter and son.
Jim Dever's name never rhymes with fever, beaver, or cleaver. Never.
