The Quartet Aviv Classical Ensemble
Cellist Yacov Aviv from Philadelphia holds a degree in performance from Berklee College of Music, summa cum laude, and has studied privately with Marcel Berger (principal cellist of the Israeli Philharmonic) and Judith Glyde (Manhattan String Quartet). He has performed with Fort Collins Opera Company and was a featured soloist with the orchestra of the University of Southern Louisiana at Lafayette. Currently he teaches privately, freelances in the Boston area playing classical repertoire and jazz and is also a teacher of the Alexander Technique, certified by the American Society for the Alexander Technique.
Violinist Megumi Sasaki was born in Tokyo, Japan and grew up in Frankfurt, Germany. Megumi holds a diploma in Classical Violin and Instrumental Education at Hochschule fuer Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main, Germany. She graduated from Berklee College of Music, Boston MA, with a diploma in Performance, summa cum laude, and was given the Berklee College of Music World Scholarship 2003 and String Department Achievement Award 2005. Megumi played with: String Orchestra Taunus, Symphony Orchestra Wetzlar, Extended String Ensemble, Trio Sympathique, Chamber Orchestra Seligenstadt, Metrowest Symphony Orchestra, currently plays with Vardan Ovsepian Chamber Ensemble, Newpoli, Himawari Radio.
Born and raised on the Texas-Mexico border, Ana Lisa Portillo is a classically trained violinist who holds a performance diploma from Berklee College of Music. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Cultural Anthropology from Columbia University, and her interest in world cultures led her to perform with and arrange for Celtic, world fusion, salsa, and Latin American folk bands. Additionally, she has directed and toured with various mariachi groups since 1990.
Violist Sydney Solow was born and raised in Moorestown, New Jersey. Classically trained for 16 years, she is currently studying at Berklee College of Music with Melissa Howe, a member of the Boston Pops. She holds a degree in Economics from the George Washington University in Washington DC where she was awarded the Presidential Arts Scholarship. Sydney currently performs with the Civic Symphony of Boston as well as the Metrowest Symphony Orchestra. In Washington DC she performed with the legendary Ray Charles and for the Supreme Court.
