Diddley Squat Show Band
Love the blues, but looking for an upbeat, fun-loving band who really puts on a show too? This is the band for you. While paying their respects to blues influences of all styles, Diddley Squat also brings a healthy amount of original material to the audience. This is not a blues-rock band, but a group leaning heavily towards west-coast jump. Although many styles of blues are touched upon within each show, irresistible grooves with cleverly written lyrics attract them the most. You can expect covers ranging from Robert Johnson and Memphis Minnie, to T-bone Walker and Sippie Wallace, to Smiley Lewis, Leiber & Stoller, Irma Thomas and more. Several of the band's originals, like "Caught Ya' With Your Pants Down" and "Gettin' Old" are quickly gaining fans too, so check them out!
Guitarist Jim Cobb shares lead vocals with percussionist Sylvia Carrell, Rick Sims sings background and roams the audience to serenade the ladies with his sax, Rodney Beal adds background vocals and suave style on his bass, and livewire Val Nail holds it all together on the drum kit. Each member takes pride in their capabilities, and since they love the music so much, it shows. No grim-faced statues in torn jeans here folks, but 5 professional friends who sparkle, and who love to entertain you.
