Campbell's Jazz Soup's core trio is reeds (clarinet and sax) and vocals, a guitar or banjo player, and a string bass or tuba player. Campbell's can play in the following two styles: A 20's/Dixieland/New Orleans style or a 30's/Django/early swing style. For the 20's/Dixie sound we perform with the banjo and, possibly, the tuba. For the 30's/early swing sound, CJS performs with the guitar and string bass. The core group can add musicians that play other instruments (trumpet, trombone, drums, and/or piano).

A very nice sound is a quartet composed of the 30s/early swing trio plus a trumpet. If you're looking for danceable music we highly recommend adding a drummer to the group. Campbell's has played many events and venues in the Bay Area for over 15 years, including weddings, corporate parties, and other various events. References are available on request.
