Adam Wald
From the sleepy hamlet of Newtown, Ohio the music of Adam Wald was crafted along the banks of the Little Miami River near the confluence of the Great Ohio River. It was in these humble beginnings that Adam searched for a new avenue in music, trained as a singer at an early age Adam learned to use his voice through song to express his world around him. Beginning with Mom at the family piano, Adam picked up a guitar and began to forge the vocals and music coming from his heart into small songs. Capturing the slow steady movement of the valley he grew up in his music, he continues to echo the ebb and flow of the river running through his hometown. After successful various musical adventures in the Midwest and The Southeast, Adam now brings his music to the West Coast. In 2004, Adam began work on his largest Solo Project to date, the recording of his entire catalog of songs stripped down bare with just a voice and an acoustic guitar. This has been whittled down to become the Adam Wald Acoustic Demo, released in 2004 from Brain Inc Productions. This CD has made in into the hands of such prominent musicians as Mikael Jorgenson from Wilco, who backstage at the Greek in Berkeley enthusiastically proclaimed, " I will try to listen to it", and the drummer from Phish, Jon Fishman, who after a wonderful conversation with Adam after an Ashkenaz show, took one look at the album artwork and stated "Nice face. . .buy if for the face, keep it for the music". Also in 2004, Adam and his sister, renowned San Francisco artist, Allison Wald, collaborated on the Visual Art project, Fantasy Files, which debuted at Vesuvios in North Beach last year. Adam has rocked out with fellow artists and musicians at Art in the Alley in San Francisco and continues that down right Bohemian tradition as often as he can. You can also catch Adam every couple of weeks playing the Open Mic night at the Freight and Salvage Coffee House in Berkeley, where he has become somewhat of a regular, trying out new songs for the best audience in town! Right now Adam is putting the final touches on his newest album Ink Black Water Below, which is due out in early October, 2005. This is a powerful collection of songs, that more than ever define the sound that Adam Wald continues to refine and share with the world. This release will be quickly followed up later this fall by the much talked about debut of Adam's sampling skills, blended with his traditional style of everything influenced, anything goes, Newtown Rock which will be sure to impress old and new fans alike.
