Chris Welch (piano/keyboards) grew up playing classical and popular music, studied jazz at the University of Washington and now is "a pianist-for-all-reasons-and-seasons" (Victory Music Review). Chris has played jazz, rock, reggae, ska, calypso, fusion, classical music, Latin music, country, and showtunes with The Groove, Sonando, Ted Kamp, Scott Lindenmuth, Eduardo Mendonça and Show Brazil, Calypso Blue, Cabaret Productions, The Washingtonians, Evan Buehler, Xebec, May Palmer, Emerald City Jazz Orchestra, Northwest Girlchoir, Room To Move Sextet, The Christopher Gross Ensemble, ACT Theatre. and scores of other artists and organizations. Chris leads groups of varied size and instrumentation that perform at clubs, festivals, weddings, and private parties. Chris has performed at most major Pacific Northwest music venues.

Chris's recording credits include the newly released Night Music ("A damn good album" ­ Wind and Wire) and his 1997 release, Songs Without Words ("upbeat, fun. completely infectious" ­ Solo Piano Publications). Chris played piano and keyboards and contributed arrangements to Urban Christmas by XEBEC. He played keyboards on Destiny by popular Seattle reggae/soca/ska band The Groove and played piano on jazz vibraphonist Evan Buehler's 1996 release, 543. Chris plays piano and keyboards on Hit The Mark and The Hidden Tiger by jazz/fusion band The Christopher Gross Ensemble.

When he isn't on stage or in the studio, Chris teaches private lessons in composition, music theory, and piano. He does recording and sound design in his home studio and composes and arranges for ensembles, piano students, jazz groups, solo piano, choirs, and theater. Chris recently worked as Assistant Music Director for The Education of Randy Newman at ACT Theater in Seattle.
