Prairie Rose Band is a four-piece folk-country-Americana band that uses bluegrass instrumentation: guitar, banjo, Dobro (acoustic slide guitar) and bass. We are an ideal band for families, as all our material is familiar: from Stephen Foster through songs you learned at camp, classic country, some western swing, and favorites by Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams Sr., Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, the Carter Family and others.

Pauline Scholten is a wonderful singer, and banjo player George Martin contributes nice vocal harmonies. Bass player Mark Hedin brings a solid rhythm and a catchy backbeat.

The group has played for dancing, listening and just background music at big cocktail parties.

The members dress in full cowboy regalia: Hats, boots, fancy shirts, so they look as good as they sound.
