Jason Parker Quartet
The Jason Parker Quartet re-defines traditional Jazz by bringing fresh interpretations to the time-honored standards of Porter, Gershwin, Davis, Parker (Charlie, that is), Monk, Ellington and more. Jason's warm, melodic trumpet is perfectly balanced by the subtle counterpoint of piano and drums, and the deep resonance of the double-bass. These four engaging and accomplished musicians have a rare unity and their performance is alive with creativity, wit and passion. The JPQ has an extensive repertoire, reflected in lyrical arrangements of the great Jazz standards, as well as original pieces composed by the band. From the ferocious swing of "Fly Me To the Moon" to the heartbreaking romance of "My Funny Valentine"; from the down-home blues of "Summertime" to the bossanova groove of "Girl From Ipanema"; from the sophisticated soul of "Georgia on my Mind" to the greasy funk of "Watermelon Man", the JPQ perform some of the best-loved songs from all corners of the Jazz library. The JPQ is perfect for all seasons and events, and can tailor the instrumentation and repertoire to suit the performance. Working with some of Seattle's finest Jazz talent, the JPQ is in the unique position of being able to offer everything from multiple horns & vocals to simple piano/trumpet duets, should the occasion demand. The band plays intimate clubs, bars and restaurants, and are equally at home in theateres, at wedding and bar/bat mitzvahs, and private or corporate events.
