Rebecca Peterson, is a 25-year-old vocalist and double bassist from Wenatchee, WA. Peterson is a graduate of Washington State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Jazz Studies minor in May of 2004. She received training in classical and jazz genres - for both the double bass and voice - and performed in numerous ensembles therein ranging from Jazz Band to Opera, Musicals, Orchestra and many Jazz/Latin/Blues combos. Peterson's vocals are dynamic in style and range, and offer an authentic portrayal of jazz, pop, latin and classical idioms. Her repertoire reflects many diverse influences from such greats as Sarah Vaughan, Stevie Wonder and Bonnie Raitt, to name but a few.

Although Peterson is an accomplished double bassist, (she was a runner-up for the 2004 IAJE Sisters in Jazz Collegiate All-Star Quintet which performed at last year's IAJE National Convention), she is best remembered by audiences for her powerful jazz stylings as a vocalist. The most frequent comment made among her peers and professors: "You need to be singing more."

Peterson has performed in jazz combos at cafes, pubs, wedding receptions, church services and university events for over 4 years. She also held a weekly singing engagement for her quartet at Rico's Smokehouse in Pullman, WA for a year and a half until completion of her degree. Peterson has also recorded two demo cd's.
