The Mary Shaver Band was formed in 1999 with former Eva Cassidy guitarist Keith Grimes and Cassidy drummer, Raice McLeod. Reknown DC bassist Wade Matthews, who has worked with Jimmy Thackery and Nils Lofgren, completed the foursome. MSB is a mixture of blues, rhythm and blues and soul music. It features songs from the Stax Record label, as well as songs from the Chess Record label. There are also original songs, as well as a CD, that was released in September 1999. The powerful mix of strong, clear vocals over a bed of thick, gutsy guitar riffs, and an exceptional rhythm section, prove this band is a force to be reckoned with.
