For those once bitten by the rhythm and blues bug, the fever never subsides. For the 10 members of Soul Purpose, the fever has always been there. Mild-mannered holders of day jobs, they reveal a different side on stage, strutting their stuff and whipping normally staid individuals into frenzied dancing machines. As the name implies, Soul Purpose is steeped in a true Soul/R&B tradition that offers the audience a combination of dance hits and soulful sounds from the '60's to the '80's. With 10 members, including a 4-piece horn section, they regularly cover tunes by such artists as Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Marvin Gaye and Gladys Knight. You will find them playing nightclubs, weddings, private parties, corporate events, civic events and festivals. Soul Purpose has also recently been booked to open for artists such as Peter Noone, Mickey Dolenz and Bobby Sherman (Teen Idol Tour), The Beach Boys, The Tams, The Swinging Medallions, while appearing at The Macon Cherry Blossom Festival, Stone Mountain's Yellow Daisy Festival, Six Flags Over Georgia and Lake Lanier Islands' concert series.
