Made In The Shade
Made in the Shade is an exciting acoustic group that entertains audiences worldwide with the exuberant spirit of New Orleans street music. Their unique blend of New Orleans jazz, swing, ethnic folk, and modern music delights listeners and dancers of all ages. The members of the band are Dan Fox, trombone; Mike Peipman, trumpet; Paul Dosier, tuba; Crick Diefendorf, banjo; and John McLellan, drums. The ensemble was formed in 1990 when a group of music school graduates decided to bring great American music to the Boston Common in celebration of our nation's birthday. Since then Made in the Shade has performed at numerous festivals, concerts, schools, radio and television shows, and social functions throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Made in the Shade plays in the true jazz tradition. Their approach to playing in the tradition doesn't just mean playing the music of the 20's and 30's stylistically correct. To Made in the Shade, the tradition of jazz means to play with spirit and soul, to have fun, communicate with the audience, and always try to be fresh and creative. Even though the songs are old, Made in the Shade makes them sound new and exciting and vows to carry this music well into the 21st Century.
