The Swingline Cubs The Cubs can play Swing era favorites for the older generation. They sound like lounge music to a youth retro crowd. And for the boomers, they churn out R&B, Motown and 60's soul classics with Tower Of Power horn lines and gospel inflected vocals. A sample of those flavors is included on the groups new CD, On The Street, which it will introduce at a rare public concert on Friday. For the event, the cubs have added six more musicians-including three backup singers who dance-to recreate its CD sound. The group thet specializes in guaranteeing its clients a good time wants its own party to measure up. The band's broad appeal is due in part to the deep and varied musical roots of its members. |
