The swingin,' soulful, dynamic, and incredibly versatile sounds of
songstress Maia Santell
and her all-star band, House Blend, have made them one of the hottest
acts in the Northwest. Maia's backing band, House Blend, consists of guitar, bass, saxophone and drums, with an added keyboard, trumpet or clarinet, depending on the venue or the nature of the engagement. Whatever the composition of her accompaniment, Maia's style is consistently swingin' and soulful. |

A descendant of Seattle's era of jazz and swing,
Maia was raised in a prominent entertainment family. At a young age she
listened in at rehearsals, shows and recording sessions, attended
Seattle's Garfield High School, and sang in a wide variety of idioms,
including musicales, rhythm & blues bands, gospel and jazz choirs. These
and other influences have contributed to her success with audiences since
1985, including performances at Expo '86, Jazz Alley, The New Orleans,
The Seattle Art Museum, Starbucks, Bumbershoot, The Packwood Blues
Festival, Little Creek Casino, The Swiss, The Tacoma Jazz Festival and
many others. |
